This seminar will examine ethical challenges in the termination phase of psychotherapy and explore the clinical elements of a “good enough” ending. The course will begin with a review and discussion of Glen O. Gabbard’s paper titled, “What is a Good Enough Termination?” Next, the presenter will discuss a case illustrating the challenges and ethical considerations discussed in the article and reflect on her experience of the termination process in that case. Throughout the presentation, attendees will be encouraged to engage with the material, bring associations and questions and contribute case material relevant to the discussion.
